A Message from Team Ohio Hockey
Team Ohio Families,
I have recently had the pleasure of speaking with many of our families either on the phone, via email or in person at the arena; these meetings have provided me with great insights that i would like to share with all of you.
I truly believe that all of us are stronger than one of us. Your feedback is valued and will be incredibly beneficial as we look to continuously improve our program.
The 2024-2025 season is in its final days, and we would like to wish all of our teams well in their final games/tournaments.
As we shift our focus to the 2025-26 season, I wanted to share a few reminders:
1. Full Season tryout registration is open and live; please be sure to get your player signed up,
2. Spring Tournament registration is live for 2007-2012 birth years,
3. Summer Skills + Summer Camp registration is live for 2007-2017 birth years.
For our full season programming, we have made a concerted effort to level up our coaching at the peewee and bantam age groups by bringing in non-parent head coaches for the upcoming season. In addition to securing these coaches we are also looking to add quality non-parent assistant coaches to support our wonderful parent coaches at the squirt and mite level. We are excited to share that we will reintroduce "skill sessions" into the full season programming mix for the 2025-26 season; these sessions will be focus on skating, shooting and puck handling. The exact plan for these sessions is still in progress but we have heard our membership- we will balance player to coach ratio while ensuring that sessions are properly grouped by age and skill level.
Each year, families are faced with the same decisions related to their player's future- stay with current program/team or seek out something new and different. The reality is that there are three options for players at the youth level in Cleveland: Tier 1 AAA, Tier 2 AA and House/Recreation. As upstart organizations appear, and this happens to often in this market, families must evaluable the viability of that program quickly and often without much information.
Team Ohio Hockey prides itself on being the premier Tier 2 youth hockey program in Ohio. Our mission is to develop our student-athletes to reach their potential on and off of the ice; the program aims to provide a healthy and safe environment for our players to grow through the great game of hockey.
We recognize that this time of year can be stressful for our families as they try to make the best choice for their player(s); if you have any questions or concerns, please do not hesitate to reach out.
Thank you and best of luck.
Jeff McCarthy
Program Director, Team Ohio Hockey
